Poetry: jupiter, mars
by YAJi
tonight
there were two stars.
two unflickering, exceedingly bright stars.
(is it technically correct to
call them so?
they were far too close
to be stars,
far too unflickering to be
called such.)
the two have been lingering in the
same sky
for days now,
lingering, staring,
piercing.
unwavering.
i met them with a stare
as intense –
so intense, yet they still
refuse to blink –
and finally i give up and let them stare at me.
i let the stars stare.
and somehow, the pair
(outshining the rest as usual)
seemed to flicker and smile –
triumphantly –
when i’m not looking.
